Morrigan Books‘ owner, Mark S. Deniz, thought it was high time that poetry was more of a feature of the dark fiction catalogue at the company. So without further ado, we are very proud to announce Karen L. Newman’s, Ghosts of Unspoken Thoughts, released next Wednesday, 9th May and Alexandra Seidel’s, All Our Dark Lovers, which premieres next Valentine’s Day, 14th February, 2013.
Ghosts of Unspoken Thoughts
The poems of Karen L. Newman’s latest poetry collection, Ghosts of Unspoken Thoughts, haunt the reader long after being read. From a man who says goodbye to his wife too late to a girl not confronting her bully in school, each poem explores different types of regret with the aid of stark imagery and sharp words. Here the tales of survivors of a nuclear attack, a foreclosed home and the war in Iraq take center stage with raw emotion being exposed like a frazzled nerve. This book is a must read for any fan of dark fiction.
All Our Dark Lovers
All Our Dark Lovers by Alexandra Seidel is a collection of stories and poems concerned with all the many kinds of love and their more sinister twist sides. While the ideas are new and fresh, the images are old, in some cases ancient, and folkloristic tradition features prominently in these tales and verses. Through salt and sea, through ash and blood, the reader will encounter Bacchus and Orpheus, Zeus and Cupid, but also Baba Yaga and Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White and Scheherazade. There are gods without a pantheon to be found in these pages, the odd fortune teller, vampires, and yes, one zombie.
Prepare yourself for falling in love with this book of secret hearts and bleeding kisses, but do not say we never told you love can break your heart.
(Both books will be edited by Mark S. Deniz)
